ADGM103 – Photography: People, Food, and Products
Learn to take control of your camera. With the advent of mobile technology and access to affordable DSLR/mirrorless cameras, most people have the ability to take a photo in an instant.
But how do you take your photos to the next level? Students in this course will receive strong foundational knowledge in the psychology of the image, visual aesthetics and how the frame can be used as a storytelling tool. Students will also gain strong technical knowledge of camera settings so they can shoot with confidence.

- Explore foundational ideas, techniques and materials used to achieve different effects in professional digital photography.
- Improve techniques in the production of digital images through practice and experimentation with a range of materials and the use of tools and equipment to produce digital images that meet workspace requirements
- Evaluate the capabilities of photographic techniques to specific genres through practice, adaptation and the use of theoretical contexts.
- Demonstrate through constructive criticism, an understanding of design principles in the context of image-based media.
- Discuss the rules and regulations of copyright, trademark, fair use, and creative commons as it pertains to image-based intellectual property.
